July 26, 2007 : Fire Box 10 - 18

At 0817, Engine 292 (with 4) and Truck 297 (with 5) were alerted for Firebox 10-18 for a reported Dwelling fire. Units went on location with smoke and fire showing from side Charlie. While enroute, command requested T297 to open the roof upon their arrival. E292 took side Charlie to cover E8’s hydrant in the rear while T297 continued in to side Alpha. Two firefighters from the truck laddered the building and opened the roof while the rest of the crew, along with E292’s crew, began opening up from the inside. Crews remained on scene for a little over two hours, and one firefighter from the truck was transported to the hospital for a lacerated hand. Units on scene included: BC 11, Engines 8, 11, 292, 101, 10, 55, Truck 297, Truck 1, Air Unit 478, Rehab 153, 154, 155, and Medic 10.

July 20, 2007 : Fire Box 17 - 13

On July 20th, around 7:15 in the evening, Firebox 17-13 was dispatched for the report of a fully involved dwelling fire. Engine 292 responded with 5 volunteers. Third to arrive, engine 292 reverse laid 1000 feet of 5 inch hose to supply engine 101. The crew of the engine manned a blitz line and a hand line near the alpha-delta corner and proceeded to drown the fire from the outside. Engine 291 was dispatched almost immediately after 292's arrival for the RIT task force, but was cleared soon after their arrival. After BGE arrived on scene and disconnected gas and electricity, firefighters were able to completely extinguish the fire and check the remains for any hot-spots. No firefighters were injured and crews were on scene for about 4 hours.

July 5, 2007 : Fire Box 11-7

On July 5th, Firebox 11-07 was dispatched for the report of an apartment fire.  Truck 297 and Engine 291 responded with a total of nine volunteers.  Upon arrival, 297 immediately began to ladder side Charlie and side alpha.  Engine 11 had upgraded to a bedroom fire on division three and was stretching a line to make an aggressive interior attack.  As Engine 11 attacked the fire, 297's crew vented the division three windows on side Charlie.  Two firefighters off of 297 then entered the involved apartment through a side Charlie balcony to complete search and rescue and check for extension.  During this the driver went to the roof and the other firefighter continued to ladder side alpha, venting as he went.  Engine 291 had arrived minutes after the truck and initiated positive pressure ventilation before entering the apartment for overhaul operations.  Due to the excellent coordination between crews, this fire was brought under control quickly and efficiently.  One resident sustained an injury to his hand and was treated at location.  No firefighters were hurt and crews remained on scene for just a couple of hours.

July 4, 2007 : 4th of July Parade

Providence VFC participated again in the annual 4th of July parade in Towson this year.  Truck 297, Engine 291, and Floodlight 293 w/ the Collapse Trailer in tow were taken for the event.  Each piece was fully staffed and fun was had by all.  Later in the day Engine 291 and Utility 298 participated in the Loch Raven Village celebration.  Crews took the time to show residents the apparatus and give public fire safety talks to the children present.  Eventually a hose line was stretched to give everyone some much needed relief from the heat!  We would like to thank the Loch Raven Village Association and Jack Carroll for giving us this opportunity each year.  Later in the evening crews enjoyed the firework display and stood by to make sure that everything ran smoothly.  Even though there were scattered storms all evening, the fireworks were a big success.
