May 31, 2007 : Fire Box 38-7 On 5/31/07 at 1227 hours Fire Box 38-7 was struck for a dwelling fire at 7 Ravens Nest Court. Providence quickly responded with Truck 297 and Engine 291 for a total staffing of 8 volunteers. Truck 297 was first arriving and found a 2 and ½ single family dwelling with smoke showing. After taking limited command, 297 then advised that they had a possible basement fire at location. Engine 291 arrived shortly after, assumed command, and stretched 2 inch attack line through the front door, down the basement steps and to the seat of the fire. While 291's crew knocked the fire, 297 went to work throwing ladders, ventilating, and conducting the primary search for victims. Back up lines were pulled off of Engine 291 but were not needed. The fire was knocked down quickly and confined to the room of origin in the basement. No injuries were reported during this incident and all crews worked very well together to quickly mitigate the situation. Cause of the fire was reported to be an electrical surge that ignited the dryer and extended to the laundry room. Many thanks to the men and women of Central Alarmers for service on this incident. May 14, 2007 : Fire Box 1-18 At about quarter till midnight on May 14, Baltimore County dispatch alerted Fire Box 1-18 for 957 Fairmount Avenue. Engine 292 was fourth due and promptly responded with 4 volunteers. While enroute, dispatch advised that they were receiving multiple calls and the police were on the scene with a working fire. Units from Towson arrived with a 2 story end of group, fire showing from the basement and first floor. Command instructed the next arriving engine to report to side C. Engine 292 was the second arriving engine, securing a hydrant and reporting to side C. The men from Providence had fire showing from the basement. They advanced an attack line into the basement entrance and extinguished the main body of the fire. After checking for extension, and FID doing their thing, crews overhauled. May 12, 2007 : Inland Warter Rescue Box 29-7 At about two o'clock on May 12, 2007, Baltimore County dispatch alerted Inland Water Rescue Box 29-7, for an overturned boat in the Loch Raven Reservoir. Providence responded promptly with Engine 292, Truck 297 and Brush 294, totalling 8 volunteers. Units from Providence arrived at the number 1 bridge to find a capsized 14' boat and three victims in the water, about 200 yards from the shoreline. The victims were actively swimming towards the shoreline. The men from Providence donned P.F.D.'s and hiked down to the shoreline. A rope was thrown to the victims and they were pulled ashore. Medic 10 assessed the victims for any injuries. None were reported. Units cleared in about 45 minutes. DNR representatives came out to retrieve their boat. Pictures Courtesy of FirePix1075 |

May 11, 2007 : Rescue Box 10-11 On 5/11/2007 Truck 297 was dispatched at 1212 hours to Putty Hill and Perring Parkway (Box 10-11) for a 10-50pi. Just prior to arrival dispatch updated the assignment to a rescue box when PD on the scene advised that there were people trapped. Truck 297 arrived to find a 2 car MVA with one car requiring a door pop. There were 5 patients in total, 2 of which were pediatric. The acting officer on 297 requested 2 additional medic units shortly after arrival and then passed command to the Captain of Engine 11. All patients were removed from the vehicles in under 10 minutes and transported to the appropriate medical facilities. A total of 6 volunteers from Providence operated at the scene. |

May 6, 2007 : Fire Rescue Box 11-14 Mid afternoon on May 6, dispatch alerted Fire Box 11-14 for multiple reports of a dwelling fire at 1670 Mussula Road. Engine 291 responded as the fourth due engine company with 4 volunteers. Engine 11 arrived with heavy fire showing from a two story duplex. Bystandards reported that there were people trapped and a Fire Rescue Box was transmitted in addition to a Working Fire Dispatch. Engine 291 was instructed to bring a line to the rear and assist Engine 10. The crew assisted with checking for extension and overhaul. Searches were negative. May 4, 2007 : Fire Box 47-13 On the evening of May 4, 2007, dispatch alerted Fire Box 47-13 for reports of a dwelling on fire in the area of Sweet Air Road and Patterson Road. Engine 291 responded with 5 volunteers. While enroute, the volunteers from Jacksonville on Engine 471 saw a large column of black smoke and transmitted a Tanker Strike Team. Engine 471 arrived to the corrected address of 5232 Sweet Air Road and had a 2 story dwelling heavy fire first floor. Engine 291 arrived and assisted units with extinguishment and overhaul. Engine 292 was alerted to relocate to the Long Green Volunteers, Company 38. Engine 291 cleared the fireground in an hour and a half. |

May 2, 2007 : Rescue Box 47-14 On May 2, 2007, volunteers from Jacksonville were dispatched to the 2300-block of Merrymans Mill Road for a 10-50 pi with an unconscious patient. Engine 473 arrived with one trapped and requested the Rescue Box, bringing Truck 297. Truck 297 responded with 4 volunteers. Squad 303 arrived first and initiated the extrication. The victims lower limbs were heavily entrapped. The Truck arrived and assisted the rescue crews with the extrication. The victim was extricated in less then 30 minutes, and taken to Shock Trauma.
