Fire in Towson (1-29)

February 23, 2010 - A little before 7 pm, box 1-29 was struck for a dwelling fire at 805 Red Fox Run, off of Cromwell Bridge Rd. E-291, T297 and F293 were alerted with the Engine as first due. E291 responded promptly with 3 personnel (Jerry Davis- OIC, Scott Robertson- Driver, Mike Murphy- pipe). T297 responded late with 3 personnel (Denning- OIC, Bill Hux- Driver, Mike Kernan-firefighter). F293 responded even later with 2 personnel (Chris Minick- OIC Bob Hornbacher- Driver). E291 reported dropping a supply line from Red Fox Run and Cromwell Bridge with instructions for the next Engine (11) to cover that line. E291 arrived shortly thereafter with a light (laminar)smoke condition visible from the exterior of a 2 sty detached dwelling. The single occupant was outside of the attached garage on the D side indicating a basement fire. FF Murphy and FF Davis stretched a 1 3/4 line to through the garage attempting to locate the basement stairs, and were met with a soft/sagging floor in the laundry area. E11 arrived, completed the supply line, and the crew reported to E291. OIC on E11 assumed command and the crew stretched a back up line. OIC on E11 completed a 360 of the dwelling and smoke conditions changed to a heavy smoke condition and a Working Fire was declared and RIT Task Force was dispatched. T297 arrived, on Side A. The roof was laddered with the aerial, and exterior ventilation began. As E291 searched for the basement stairs, interior conditions deteriorated and increased heat was noted. When the windows were vented on side A, a heavy fire condition vented from 2 windows. This made interior conditions more tenable. Primary searches were completed on the 1st and 2nd interior divisions. FF Robertson assisted the truck crew with placement of 4 ground ladders on side A. The fire was quickly knocked on the 1st division, and crews made the basement and knocked the fire in the basement. Utilities were secured. Crews remained on the scene for mop up and overhaul. Units cleared around 10 pm. No injuries were sustained.
