2011-04-07- WTC steel arrival
April 07, 2011 - On April 7, 2011 a long awaited addition to the station finally arrived. After more then a year of going through the application process, PVFC found out earlier this year that we had been awarded a piece of steel from the World Trade Center that was recovered after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2011.
Members from Providence made the trip to JFK Airport in New York City along with a driver and truck donated by Wirtz and Daughters Landscaping.
When the truck and steel made back into Maryland, they were met by member of the Maryland chapter of the Patriot Guard www.mdpatriotguard.org , led the procession of 2 PVFC vehicles and the truck carrying the steel. The procession grew at Cromwell Bridge Road, where all units from PVFC and Baltimore County Fire Department Engine Co. # 10 (Parkville). The Patriot Guard led the convoy back to the Firehouse where dozens of community members and local media were waiting.
A formal dedication of the steel will occur on September 11, 2011 at 2 pm
