MSP Trooper 1 Training


May 16, 2010 - Members of Company 29 headed down today to Martin’s State Airport for a Show and Tell of MSP Trooper 1. Trooper 1 was O/S therefore Trooper 2 was being used in its place. Special Thanks to TFC Donald Pickle for taking some time out of his day to show us around the helicopter, hangar and to answer the questions we had.

PVFC assists BGE in their Annual Teen Driver Safety Day


May 15, 2010 - On May 15, 2010, Floodlight 293 (FADO B. Hux, FF. L. Hux) along with Utility 298( FF. J.Jeffers, Lt. S. Pearce) went to BGE's Facility in Woodlawn to assist in their Annual Event. This Event shows teenagers of BGE and Baltimore County Police Department employee's how dangerous it is to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The demo was narrated by BGE Safety Officer A. Howdyshell to inform the Teens of every step involved in Auto Extrication. BGE mocked an accident involving a mini van and a car that sheared a telephone pole with live wires on the vehicle. Providence along with Woodlawn Volunteers(33) and BCoFD Medic 3 responded into the staged scene finding 4 teenager trapped. Three of which were trapped in the mini van with minor injuries and one Priority 4 (dead) in the car with the live power wires over the hood of the vehicle. The crew's from FL293 and E331 provided rescue operations to extricate the 3 patients from the van, while Medic 3 provided patient care. BGE arrived securing the electric and removed the power cable from the car. After, the 3 teenagers where extricated from the van the crews went to work removing the drivers door and roof from the car to remove the Priority 4 teenager from the car.

Working house fire in Parkville (10-2)


May 07, 2010 - On Friday May 7, at approximately 00:46hrs, Floodlight 293 was dispatched on fire box 10-2. Floodlight 293 responded with 3 personnel. Engine 10 had been dispatched for a smoke in the area call and was already on scene with a working dwelling fire. Command advised that this was a balloon frame dwelling and that it was burning in the walls. Upon Floodlight 293’s arrival they were advised by command to go to the exterior delta side and open up the walls. After completion of the assignment 293’s crew went to the roof and assisted units with checking for any additional extension and extinguishing hot spots in the attic. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 ½ hours.

2 Alarm Apartment fire in Towson (1-14)


May 05, 2010 - On Wednesday May 5, at approximately 23:40hrs, Engine 292 was dispatched on fire box 1-14. Engine 292 responded with 6 personnel. Upon Engine 1’s arrival they advised they had heavy smoke showing and requested the working fire assignment. Engine 292 was advised by command to pick up the plug and pump the line going to Engine 1. As Engine 292 arrived at the scene command requested a second alarm and 292’s crew went to work checking the delta exposure. Floodlight 293 arrived shortly after the second alarm was pulled and assisted with ventilation and search in the fire building. After checking the delta exposure 292’s crew also assisted with ventilation and search in the fire building. During the search a firefighter from 292 fell through a hole in the floor made from the intense heat conditions. The firefighter was able to self extricate and was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Crews from 29 remained on scene for approximately 3 hours. West Chester Burn Evolutions Training (Part 1)


May 02, 2010 - Members of Company 29 took an1 ½ hr drive up to West Chester PA to use their phenomenal training facility. A total of 14 members attended this all day training. Training consisted of: Live fire evolutions, Hose movement and advancement, Ladders, Search and Rescue, Engine/Truck Company Operations and Communication. This was an excellent refresher for the members that did attend. A special thanks to Lt. Robertson and Lt. Wolbert for organizing this training and to Company 28 for filling our station in.

1050PI Dulaney Valley Rd and Lochraven Dr. (38-19)


April 13, 2010 - On Tuesday, April 6th, 2010 at approximately 1732 hrs, Station 29 was alerted for a Motorcycle accident in Company 38’s (Long Green) area at Peerce’s Plantation. Ladder Support 29 responded promptly with Lt. S. Pearce, FADO C. Rhodes, FF D. Cherney, FF J. Jeffers and FF T. Theodoropoulos. Special Unit 387 arrived to find a motorcycle that had been laid down involving one patient. LS29 assisted the crew of SU387 and EMS1 (BCoFD) with patient care until Medic 475(Jacksonville) arrived. LS29’s crew also controlled the fluids that were leaking from the motorcycle. LS29 was back in service at approximately 1801hrs. Units on scene: SU387, E382, LS29, M475, EMS1, BCoPD.

29 Medical Box (Update)


March 31, 2010 - On Friday January 29, 2010 at approximately 15:49 hours units from Providence responded with M101 (Towson) for a report of 2y/o seizure at a residence north of the station. E291 responded with Lt. C Davis, FF. S. Robertson, FF/EMT C. Camp ell, FF P. Gleitsmann. Upon arrival the crew found a 2 y/o on the floor unconscious/unresponsive in respiratory distress. The crew initiated immediate airway management and oxygen therapy. Upon the medic arrival, the patient was rapidly transferred to the ambulance where advanced life support measures were started. During transport to the hospital the patients condition deteriorated. Members from Providence accompanied the Medics to the Emergency Room and assisted the ER staff. The child was stabilized.

We are pleased to report that "Sara" made a complete recovery! On Saturday March 27 the she came to the Firehouse for the annual Easter Egg Hunt/Party at the station with her family. She was in very good spirits and colored a sign that read " Thank You For Helping Me" for the firefighters that responded to her emergency. The sign has been proudly posted in the members' area of the firehouse.

1050PI Lochraven Blvd and Cromwell Bridge Rd. (29-4)


March 26, 2010 - March 23, 2010 - At 1444hrs Station 29 was alerted for a 1050PI. Ladder Support 29 responded with 5 Volunteers. LS29 arrived on location to find a two vehicle accident with injuries. LS29 assisted M55 in packaging the patient. Patient was taken to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Units: LS29, M55, BCoPD
