"Santa's Run" through Providence
December 24, 2010 - On Christmas Eve, the members of your Providence Volunteer Fire Company carried on its long standing tradition of escorting Santa and Mrs. Claus throughout our district. We do this prior to the start of Santa's busy night delivering presents and eating cookies !
We try and make it to each street in our district prior to 10pm. Sometimes this is not possible due to emergencies or fires, as was the case this Christmas Eve. If we did not make it to your street, we are truly sorry. We appreciate your understanding that the emergencies come first
If you have any photos that you would wish to share of Santa's visit to your street/house, please email them to the following email address and put "Providence Santa Run 2010" in the subject line. The photos will then be added to the website for all to see.

Stonleigh
December 23, 2010 - On December 23, 2010 12 volunteers from Providence were fortunate to be able to escort Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus through the Stonleigh community. This has become an annual tradition that is as highly anticipated by the members of Providence as it is by the Stonleigh residents. Santa and his Mrs. climbed on Engine # 291 and proceeded through the neighborhood with children from the community sharing candy canes from the back of Utility# 298.
We at Providence are very thankful for the relationship we have with the community association of Stonleigh and look forward to seeing them all next year.
WMAR TV, Channel # 2 in Baltimore was on sight to see the start of Santa's tour of Stonleigh and you can see their story by following the link below.

Good Bye to an " Old Friend"
November 12, 2010 - Truck 297 departed quarters for the last time this morning around 0830 hrs, bound for its new home, the Belle Vernon Fire Company No. 2 in South West Pennsylvania. Visit their website at
http://www.bvfc4.org/apparatus.html
This apparatus was the 3rd piece to serve as truck # 297. The 1990 Simon/LTI was purchased second hand from the ____ Company in eastern PA by Providence in 20__ .It was the first truck that had a fully enclosed cab, to be equipped with a Thermal Imaging Camera and was the second with a ladder length of 110 feet. The apparatus served Providence and the Citizens of Baltimore County for
Chief Saxberg telephoned to let us know that the truck made the journey without any trouble, and arrived at its new home around 1430 hours.
They seem very pleased with the truck but the Chief was quick to point out that there was one small issue... the Baltimore Raven's magnets that were hidden all over the truck!!! I am pretty sure they appreciated the humor of the magnets, as they are in the heart of PITTSBURGH STEELERS COUNTRY!!!
