PVFC assists BGE in their Annual Teen Driver Safety Day
May 15, 2010 - On May 15, 2010, Floodlight 293 (FADO B. Hux, FF. L. Hux) along with Utility 298( FF. J.Jeffers, Lt. S. Pearce) went to BGE's Facility in Woodlawn to assist in their Annual Event. This Event shows teenagers of BGE and Baltimore County Police Department employee's how dangerous it is to drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The demo was narrated by BGE Safety Officer A. Howdyshell to inform the Teens of every step involved in Auto Extrication. BGE mocked an accident involving a mini van and a car that sheared a telephone pole with live wires on the vehicle. Providence along with Woodlawn Volunteers(33) and BCoFD Medic 3 responded into the staged scene finding 4 teenager trapped. Three of which were trapped in the mini van with minor injuries and one Priority 4 (dead) in the car with the live power wires over the hood of the vehicle. The crew's from FL293 and E331 provided rescue operations to extricate the 3 patients from the van, while Medic 3 provided patient care. BGE arrived securing the electric and removed the power cable from the car. After, the 3 teenagers where extricated from the van the crews went to work removing the drivers door and roof from the car to remove the Priority 4 teenager from the car.
