Working Rescue on the Beltway – (Box 10-63)
At 11:36 am, the Providence Volunteers were alerted to a motor vehicle collision on the outer loop of I-695 at Loch Raven Boulevard. Truck 297 with 5 volunteers and BCoFD Engine 10 (Parkville) responded to a reported pick up truck with trailer that had rolled over several times trapping the only occupant.
Recognizing the situation, the first arriving unit requested a rescue assignment bringing additional resources. Arriving at 11:44, Truck 297 worked alongside Truck 8 (BCoFD Fullerton) to extricate the seriously injured adult female. Within minutes, the patient was freed from the vehicle and turned over to Paramedics for transport to an area hospital. Units from Maryland State Police and CHART were also on scene conducting accident investigation and traffic control. While this was happening, 8 volunteers were staffing additional units back at the fire station.
